Your NHS Right to Choose, explained
If you are an adult registered with a GP in England, you may be eligible for an NHS-funded ADHD assessment with Rainbow through Right to Choose. Your GP will need to refer you, and we review referrals for suitability before arranging an appointment.

Who is eligible?
This Rainbow pathway is for adults aged 18 and over who are registered with a GP in England and referred for a possible ADHD assessment.
Your GP considers whether a referral is appropriate. We then review the referral against our service criteria. If you already have a diagnosis or are under another ADHD service, contact us before requesting a new referral.

How to use your Right to Choose

Take the 60-second adult test or speak to your GP
Our adult ADHD self-check can help you reflect on your symptoms before your GP conversation. It is optional and is not a diagnosis. Explain your concerns and ask whether referral for an ADHD assessment is appropriate. You can ask to be referred to Rainbow through Right to Choose.

Your GP submits a referral
Your GP can find Rainbow using the NHS e-Referral Service details below.

We review your referral
We check the referral and supporting information. We will explain if more information is needed before an appointment can be arranged.

Prepare for your assessment
We explain the questionnaires and relevant history needed for your appointment.

Attend your assessment
Your clinician explores your symptoms and history, then explains the findings and recommended next steps.
- 06
Receive your report and discuss next steps
You receive a written report and recommendations. Where treatment is appropriate, we explain the available pathway, funding arrangements and waiting time.

Funding
What is funded?
For patients accepted onto our NHS-funded assessment pathway, the assessment, written outcome report and routine GP communication do not carry a private assessment fee.
If treatment is recommended, we will explain the treatment pathway, what is funded and any applicable prescription charges before you decide how to proceed.
