Online video assessment

Two assessment options

Two ways to prepare. A doctor makes the diagnosis.

Choose how you would like to share your information before your clinical assessment. Both options include a video consultation with a doctor, a written report, a summary for your GP and a short follow-up conversation.

AI-assisted adult ADHD assessment

£295

Before your video appointment, an AI assistant asks questions to collect information about your experiences, history and how your difficulties affect daily life. This gives your doctor information to review and explore with you during the consultation.

Your doctor conducts the clinical assessment, asks further questions and decides whether ADHD is the appropriate diagnosis.

AI is used only for information gathering. It does not diagnose ADHD or make the clinical decision.

This lower-cost option is available through our private adult service only.

Fully human adult ADHD assessment

£595

Prefer to share your information without an AI assistant? Choose our fully human assessment. Information gathering and the clinical assessment are led by people, and you meet a doctor by video to discuss your experiences and receive their clinical opinion.

This option does not use the AI information-gathering step.

Your diagnosis is a human clinical decision in both options. Your doctor assesses you during the video consultation and explains the outcome. If further information is needed before reaching a conclusion, they will explain the next steps. Neither option guarantees an ADHD diagnosis or medication.

The assessment

An assessment that takes time to understand you

You may have spent years struggling with concentration, organisation or feeling overwhelmed. An assessment gives you space to discuss those experiences and understand what might be behind them.

Your doctor will consider your current difficulties, childhood history, everyday functioning and other possible explanations. They will explain their findings and discuss appropriate next steps, whether or not ADHD is diagnosed.

What the fee covers

Both assessment options include

  • A review of your suitability for our online service before booking.
  • Review of your relevant history and supporting information, collected through your chosen assessment option.
  • A detailed video assessment with a doctor trained in ADHD assessment, who makes the clinical diagnostic decision.
  • A clear explanation of the outcome.
  • A written clinical report and summary for your GP.
  • Personalised recommendations, including practical support for work, study and everyday life.
  • A short follow-up conversation to discuss your report and next steps.
You do not have to start medication or purchase ongoing care after your assessment.
The assessment fee pays for the clinical assessment and report. It does not guarantee an ADHD diagnosis or a prescription.

How it works

How your private care works

  1. 01

    Check suitability

Tell us about your needs and medical history so we can check whether our online adult service is suitable.

  2. 02

    Choose your assessment option

Choose the £295 AI-assisted assessment or the £595 fully human assessment. We will explain what is included and what information you need to provide.

  3. 03

    Share your information

With the AI-assisted option, an AI assistant collects information before your video appointment. With the fully human option, information gathering is led by people, without the AI step.

  4. 04

    Meet your doctor by video

Your doctor reviews your information, explores your experiences and carries out the clinical assessment. The doctor makes the diagnostic decision; AI does not. If more information is needed, your doctor will explain what happens next.

  5. 05

    Receive your outcome and report

Receive an explanation of the findings, a written report, a GP summary and personalised recommendations, with a short follow-up conversation to discuss your next steps.

  6. 06

    Discuss treatment if appropriate

If ADHD is diagnosed, your clinician will discuss suitable support. Medication treatment is optional and charged separately. The initial 12-week titration programme costs £695, with medication paid for separately.

Optional treatment

Optional medication treatment: £695 for 12 weeks

Titration is the process of introducing medication and adjusting it to find a suitable treatment and dose.

Your programme includes

  • A prescribing consultation and review of the health information needed before treatment.
  • An individual treatment and monitoring plan.
  • Regular clinical reviews during the programme.
  • Review of your response, side effects and monitoring information.
  • Prescription writing during the programme.
  • Routine questions about your treatment through our patient support channel.
  • An end-of-titration review.
  • A treatment summary and shared-care request to your GP when clinically appropriate.
You pay for this programme only after treatment has been agreed. The 12-week period starts when medication initiation begins.
Medication is not included. You pay the pharmacy separately, and the cost depends on the medication and dose.
Some people need longer than 12 weeks. Further titration costs £150 per additional four weeks. We will discuss the reasons and costs before extending your programme.

Ongoing care

Care after titration

Once your treatment is stable, we will agree how your ongoing care will work.

Option A

Your GP accepts shared care

£240 a year

Annual specialist review, routine GP correspondence and shared-care documentation.

Option B

Rainbow continues private prescribing

£39 a month

Routine repeat prescription writing, six-monthly medication reviews, an annual comprehensive review and routine treatment support.

You pay for the applicable option, not both. The £39 monthly plan has no separate annual review or membership charge. Pharmacy medication costs remain additional. A substantial change of medication may require a new period of titration. We will explain any additional fees before that care begins.

Shared care

Understanding shared care

Shared care is an arrangement in which your GP agrees to take over prescribing while your specialist remains involved in reviewing your treatment.

We can request shared care when it is appropriate, but your GP decides whether to accept it.

If your GP declines, we will explain your options, including continued private prescribing with Rainbow where clinically appropriate. You should not assume that an NHS GP will take over your prescriptions after a private assessment.

Fees

Clear costs before you decide

These prices apply to our adult private service. Children's assessment and treatment fees are explained separately.

These prices exclude medication, separately arranged physical investigations and optional services such as therapy or coaching. We will explain any additional requirements and costs before you commit to them.

You can read our booking, cancellation and refund terms before paying.

You may be able to access NHS-funded care

Rainbow also provides NHS-funded adult ADHD assessments through Right to Choose for eligible patients in England.

You do not have to choose private care to access Rainbow. The NHS route requires a GP referral; the private route allows direct booking.

Visit our NHS page to check eligibility, what the funded pathway includes and current assessment and treatment waiting times.

Questions

Questions before booking

Visit our children's service page
Will AI diagnose me?

No. AI is used only to collect information before your video appointment. Your doctor reviews that information, assesses you during the consultation and makes the clinical diagnostic decision. If more information is needed, your doctor will explain the next steps.

What is the difference between the £295 and £595 assessments?

The £295 assessment uses AI-assisted information gathering before your doctor appointment. The £595 assessment uses human-led information gathering without the AI step. Both include a doctor's video assessment, a written report, a GP summary and a short follow-up conversation. Treatment is optional and charged separately.

Is AI-assisted information gathering the same as the 60-second test?

No. Our free 60-second test is an adult screening tool to help you reflect on your symptoms. It does not diagnose ADHD. AI-assisted information gathering is a separate preparation step for the £295 private adult assessment, followed by a clinical video assessment with a doctor.

Is the £295 option available for children or through the NHS?

No. It is available only through our private adult service for people aged 18 and over in England. Our NHS adult pathway and private children's service have separate arrangements.

Do I need a GP referral?

No referral is needed for our private service. We will need your GP details and relevant health information to support your assessment and any treatment.

Can I have an assessment without taking medication?

Yes. You can book an assessment without committing to medication or ongoing paid care.

What happens if ADHD is not diagnosed?

Your clinician will explain their findings and recommend appropriate next steps. You will still receive your report. The fee covers the assessment and professional opinion, regardless of the outcome.

Will I receive medication at my assessment?

Medication is not automatic. If ADHD is diagnosed and medication may be appropriate, a prescribing clinician will review whether treatment is suitable before it begins.

How soon can I be seen?

Available assessment appointments are shown during booking. If you are considering medication, our team will also explain current treatment-start availability. Assessment and treatment have separate appointment schedules.

Can I move from private care to NHS-funded care?

NHS-funded care has its own eligibility and referral requirements. Paying privately does not guarantee a transfer to NHS care or priority on an NHS waiting list.

Do you also assess children and young people?

Yes. We have a separate private assessment and treatment service for children and young people. Visit our children's service page for information about suitability, the process and fees.

Take the next step

Choose an AI-assisted adult assessment for £295 or a fully human assessment for £595. In both options, a doctor assesses you by video and makes the clinical diagnostic decision. Start by checking whether our private service is suitable for you. Optional treatment is priced separately.
