ADHD assessment and treatment for children and young people
Understand your child's needs and find a clear way forward.
If attention, activity levels or impulsive behaviour are affecting everyday life, it can be difficult to know where to turn. We listen to your concerns, involve your child and explore what support may help.

The young person first
Understanding your child as a person
Every young person brings their own strengths, interests and challenges. We look beyond a checklist to understand their experiences and how difficulties affect home life, learning and relationships.
The assessment brings together the young person's perspective, family history and relevant information from education or other settings. Your clinician will also consider whether other needs may help explain the difficulties.
What the fee covers
Your £895 assessment includes
- Review of suitability and relevant pre-assessment information.
- Developmental history and review of family and education information.
- Clinical assessment involving the young person and their parent or carer as appropriate.
- Explanation of the outcome and a written clinical report.
- A GP summary and recommendations that can be shared with education where appropriate.
- A feedback discussion and personalised next-step recommendations.
How it works
What the assessment involves
- 01
An initial suitability review
We start by understanding your concerns, your child's age, relevant health information and any existing assessments or support. We explain whether our service is appropriate before booking.
- 02
Information from home and education
We ask for developmental history and relevant questionnaires or reports. With appropriate permission, we seek information from school, college or another setting that knows your child. If your child is home educated, is not attending school or has limited school information, tell us — we will discuss what other information may help.
- 03
Time with the clinician
Your child is involved in a way that is appropriate to their age, communication needs and understanding. Parents or carers also have an opportunity to explain their observations and ask questions.
- 04
Feedback and a written report
We explain the assessment outcome and recommended next steps. The report can support discussions with your GP and education setting, with appropriate information sharing agreed as part of your care.
After assessment
Support after assessment
Recommendations are tailored to the young person's needs. They may include information about ADHD, strategies for everyday routines, support for parents or carers, adjustments in education and consideration of medication.
We explain which support we provide directly and where another service may be more appropriate. Specialist therapy, formal parent-training programmes or additional assessments are not automatically included in an ADHD assessment fee.
Optional treatment
Medication, where appropriate
Medication is a separate clinical decision. Your clinician will discuss the options with you and your child, taking account of their needs, preferences and relevant health information.
If medication is agreed, treatment begins with a period of titration: introducing medication and reviewing its effects to find a suitable treatment and dose.
Reviews consider how your child is getting on, possible side effects and physical monitoring, including growth, blood pressure and pulse where required. We explain what information to provide and how monitoring will be arranged.
£795 for the initial 12 weeks
The programme includes the prescribing consultation, a treatment and monitoring plan, regular clinical reviews, prescription writing, routine treatment questions and an end-of-titration review. It also includes a treatment summary and a shared-care request where appropriate.
You pay only after treatment is agreed. The 12-week period begins when medication initiation starts. Medication is paid for separately at the pharmacy.
The length of titration varies. If further titration is needed, it costs£175 per additional four weeks. We explain the reasons and fees before extending treatment.
Ongoing care
Ongoing care and shared care
Once treatment is stable, we agree a care plan and explain who will carry out physical monitoring and specialist reviews.
GP accepts shared care
£360 a year
Two scheduled specialist reviews per year, with the annual comprehensive review included in one of these appointments, plus routine GP correspondence and review of monitoring information.
Rainbow continues private prescribing
£59 a month
Routine repeat prescription writing, two scheduled specialist reviews per year with an annual comprehensive review included, review of monitoring information and routine treatment support.
You pay for the applicable option, not both. The monthly plan has no additional annual membership or prescription-writing fee. Pharmacy medication costs remain separate.

What ages do you see?
Our children's service is for ages 6–17. Adults aged 18 and over can use our adult service. If your child is under six, speak to their GP about appropriate local support and assessment options.
Do we need a GP referral?
You can contact us directly about private assessment. We will explain the GP and health information we need before an appointment can be arranged.
Will you need information from school?
Information from education can help build a fuller picture. We will explain what is needed and how it can be shared. If school information is difficult to obtain, contact us before booking so we can discuss the next step.
Will my child be involved?
Yes. We want to understand their experiences as well as yours. We explain the appointment in an age-appropriate way and discuss any communication or accessibility needs beforehand.
Does a diagnosis mean my child must take medication?
No. Treatment decisions are discussed individually. We explain appropriate options and support you and your child to understand them.
Can we use the adult self-check for our child?
No. The adult self-check on this website is not a children's assessment tool. Contact our children's team instead.
Is this children's service NHS-funded?
This page describes our private, self-funded children’s service. The NHS Right to Choose service currently described on our website is for adults. Your GP can advise on local NHS pathways for children.
What happens as my child approaches adulthood?
Tell us if your child is approaching 18 so we can discuss continuity of care and any changes to their service or fees in advance.
Talk to us about your child
Tell us your child's age and a brief outline of what you would like help with. We will explain suitability and appointments. Assessment £895. Optional medication treatment is priced separately.
